The ultimate guide how to draw caricatures

Filed in Make a living on drawing caricatures Leave a comment

I’ve been sharing my knowledge of how to draw caricatures, and I hope more of you get the chance to do what I do for a living. I think the industry is in need of even more talented artists, and I hope my website is at good use for you.

The gift of cartoon drawing is not that complicated, anyhow. I believe that a lot of people have the potential to do this for a living. Heck, I myself am color blind, which means I can’t see the difference between red/green, blue/purple, yellow/orange etc.

I hope this website gives you the tips and tricks to do what you want, to draw caricatures.

I’ll see you!

Useful tips to draw beautiful caricatures

I have been working with caricature drawing for 18 months now, and I love every minute of it.

One helpful tip for you to start with, is the five shape system.

See, the human face has five distinctive shapes. It’s;
- The head shape
- Eye one
- Eye two
- Nose
- Mouth

The most important thing is that where the eyes ends, the nose starts. It doesn’t matter if you draw a face that looks like a beer can. The most important thing is that when you draw the eyes, whatever shape, the nose should start exactly beneath it. If you do that, the caricature drawing will look like a face instead of a beer can with eyes and a potato for a noce.

How I learned to draw killer caricatures

Filed in Okategoriserade Leave a comment

I started out drawing caricatures in 2001, but didn’t relly get the hang of it. I drew Bart from The Simpsons, but he just looked like a beer can with ears. I just couldn’t draw it like a pro.

I went on and on without achieving anything. I’ve always liked to draw, but I just couldn’t get the hang of cartoon characters, and it really made me thinik of quitting it altogether, as it only made me frustrated not to do it like a pro.

I then started learning by various E-books and stuff, and finally got one worth the money. Now, Bart looks more alive than ever, even more alive than in the actual show.
